Ps 54:4 "God is my helper! The Lord is the provider for my life." (God's Word)


Praise God! This Thursday (our 2nd food ministry), God brought 24 families (which was made up of a total of 93 people.) A total of 1100 lbs was distributed during the 2 hours. The breakdown of weight was: 400 lbs of meat, 187 lbs of can goods, 300 lbs of Bread/Pasta/Potatoes, 60 lbs of Milk/Soda, 62.5 lbs of Dried Beans, 87.5 lbs of Pasta Sauce, 13 lbs of Misc (Crackers, Snacks, etc.) We also gave out 13 Bibles and 20 Salvation tracks.

God blessed us with a 128% increase from last week in serving the Latino population in Williamsburg. This Thursday, we had 49.5% (versus 23% last week) of people being Hispanic. We pray it will be more next week.

God is truly the Jehovah Jireh!

Genesis 43:4 If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food

No Williamsburg does not have a famine occurring, but there are several families in our area that go hungry weekly, cut back on other important expenses to buy food, or pray for assistance from other resources. Are there enough resources in our area? My opinion, no! So, other than my computer being up and down due to being hit during one of our storms, we have been busy preparing for God latest gift: to help serve food, at our cost, to people in the Lightfoot, Croaker, Toano and Norge area.

This past Thursday was our first day of serving the Lord and people. It went well for a first day. We served 6 families (which was made up of a total of 26 people.) A total of 350 lbs was distributed during the 2 hours. Each family received 4 nights of meat, can goods, breakfast bread and sandwich bread, dry milk, 5 lbs of potatoes and corn. Our meats for the meals consisted of packages of bacon, hot dogs with buns, an 8 lb bag of rock fish, pork sausage rolls, and pasta with pasta sauce. We also gave out 20 Bibles, children toys and books.

The biggest population we are trying to reach out to is the Latino residents in our area. The language barrier in the past has become a problem. By God's grace, we know several people who can assist in translating for us, my husband being one of them. On Thursday, we had 23% of people being Hispanic. We pray it will be more next week.

What makes this ministry different than many others we have known throughout? Weekly we will have Pastors, Deacons, and Christian Counselors on hand in case somebody needs a person to speak with for guidance or if they are going through a crisis at the moment other than food. Also, we were given a $500 grant from the International Bible Society and ordered enough Bibles to have on hand for people who are visually challenged (the large print Bibles), people who predominately speak Spanish and small pocket Bibles. My friend and hairdresser has pledged to come one Thursday a month to give free haircuts and the first one is Sept. 2nd for children getting ready for school.

Praise God, for He is the Great Provider! He found us a way into the FoodBank so we could help others, since we have to buy all the food we will be giving away out of our own money.

Hurricane Charley

By this afternoon, we are expected to get gusts from 40-60 mph. Basically, as the news claimed, any trees that were somewhat down from Isabel, will come down. We have been prepping just in case the power goes out during the wind and rain storm. We have a lot of ojects outside that could potentially become airborn (grills, outdoor furniture, yard equipment, etc) that need to be tied down. Also, in case the power goes out, we are making a few meals ahead of time and saving up a lot of water (we are on a well.) So, if I don't blog for the next few days, you know our power is out.

We are praying that if anyone is out on the streets will come here or find "shelter" during the rain and wind storms.

A long time has passed since I last blogged. Unfortunately, I don't have the time I need at the moment to catch everyone up to date. The past 3 weeks have been tough and busy, but to make it worse, my computer is crashing and I can't access any of my icons. Currently I am using my laptop and awaiting for a repair person to come fix my main system. I will blog as soon as it is finished.
